Annotation: The article presents an original attempt at philosophical and methodological understanding and practical modeling of personal competencies of students of secondary and higher educational institutions of Russia with the help of a new socio-anthropological theory of 10 degrees of freedom, which was developed by the author. This theory of degrees of freedom is based on the evolutionary mechanism of the gradual ascent of an individual and a given society from basic survival conditions to the highest degrees of freedom-political, moral, religious, and creative. Applying this theoretical model to the modeling of the personal future of young people in post-Soviet society, we can argue that without achieving socio-economic independence, the pursuit of higher levels of freedom will be limited and even accidental. Above all, we are talking about political autonomy, which is largely intended to determine the perspective of the life of the individual and the entire society by means of the practical principle “from the personal benefit to the common good’’.
