Annotation: The article describes the practice of using symbolic models at the English lessons in a non-linguistic high school. A number of models illustrating some of the features of English grammar and translation difficulties were created. The article shows the effectiveness of their use in teaching students with different levels of mastering English. The article shows the importance of clarity as the main property of any model needed for effective use in the educational process
