Annotation: The article analyzes the involvement of rural teachers in the informatization of education, identifies existing prob- lems, and suggests ways to address them. Based on statistical data from the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the results of the Russian Monitoring of the Economic Situation and Health of the Population conducted by HSE University, the study examines the provision of ICT tools and specialized software in rural educational institutions in recent years. It determines the level of readiness and the need for ICT use among rural educators. It also identifies key problems and considers possible solutions for the digitalization of education in rural areas. The study reveals a fairly high level of readiness among rural educators to use modern ICT tools in their professional activities, while at the same time highlighting the need to improve the digital literacy of rural school teachers and their capacity for self-development in the field of information technology. The necessity of improving rural schools’ access to high-speed Internet and increasing the volume of meaningful educational content is also emphasized. The results of the study can be used by educational authorities in determining an optimal model for the rural educational system.
