Keywords: recurrent neural networks, temporal series, transformers, long-term dependencies, encoder
Annotation: Traditional models of the recurrent neural network (RNN), such as LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) and GRU (Gated Recurrent Unit), have long been used for time series analysis, but have limitations in learning on long sequences and high computational requirements. Recent advances in time series forecasting have shown a de- crease in their importance. In this article, a new RNN architecture with linear temporal complexity and lower memory consumption is proposed. During the study, the proposed RNN model was tested and its performance was evaluated for various temporal series analysis tasks. The presented results of the experiment show that the proposed model is superior to modern alternatives. The competitiveness of the model was confirmed by comparison with advanced models such as PatchTST and TimesNet. In addition, the proposed model surpassed the perfor- mance of models based on multilayer perceptrons (MLP) and proved to be more effective than models based on transformers. The proposed RNN architecture may become a promising direction for future research in this field.
INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO THE SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY OF THE UNIVERSITY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE THREE-PRONGED CONCEPT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIETY
Release: 2024-4 (49)
DOI: 10.21777/2500-2112-2024-4-92-103
Keywords: sustainable development goals, interdisciplinary approach, content analysis, scientific publications, research potential of the university
Annotation: The article is devoted to the assessment and interpretation of the university’s research potential related to the goals of sustainable development of society. The subject of the study is the content of university scientists’ publications in the context of the Agenda 2030 adopted by the international community. Experimental studies were conducted on the basis of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution “Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University”. The content analysis of the text of the publications of university scientists using the method of mathematical programming and the Statistica 10.0 statistical package, which includes factor analysis of the data array by the principal component method, was carried out. The application of the principal component analysis based on the pairwise correlation coefficients of the initial and generalized factors is demonstrated. The interpretation of the results of content analysis based on statistical processing of keywords from the text of scientific articles and the creation of an ordination plot of keywords in the space of factors is carried out. On the basis of the conducted content analysis, the possibilities of interdisciplinary research directions are identified. An interdisciplinary approach to conducting scientific research at the university is proposed. This approach is aimed at achieving a synergistic effect in obtaining new knowledge in the field of sustainable development. It is noted that mastering the methodology of interdisciplinary scientific research makes it possible to obtain results in combined fields of knowledge and form universal research competencies.
THE GENESIS OF SCIENTIFIC AND PEDAGOGICAL IDEAS ON INFORMATION CULTURE (FROM THE PRIMEVAL WORLD TO DIGITAL PLATFORMS)
Release: 2024-1 (46)
DOI: 10.21777/2500-2112-2024-1-95-105
Keywords: information culture, digital culture, digital platform, digital space, informatization, digitalization
Annotation: The purpose of the work is to analyze the evolution of pedagogical ideas of the personality’s information culture concept from information vacuum to the information as an element. The article uses vector analysis that covers both trends in scientific research and socio-informational factors that determine them. In addition, the method of abstraction that allows us to identify the pedagogical essence of the general scientific phenomenon and the method of synthesis as well are used in the work. The latter allows us to identify significant stages in the evolu- tion of understanding information culture as a pedagogically formed quality. Despite the abundance of scientific material dedicated to information culture there is no widespread use of a historical and pedagogical approach to its analysis probably due to the a priori perception of information technology as a contemporary phenom- enon. These considerations determine the relevance and methodological novelty of the work. The author comes to the conclusion that the stages of information culture as pedagogical concept do not completely coincide with the stages of the traditional idea of the four information revolutions, although they correlate with them as for pedagogical knowledge not only the formal availability of a particular technology is important but its mass use on a social level as well.
METHOD OF CALCULATING THE ORIENTATION OF A HELIOSTATIC MIRROR BASED ON VECTOR REPRESENTATIONS
Release: 2024-3 (48)
DOI: 10.21777/2500-2112-2024-3-103-109
Keywords: heliostat, sun position, mirror orientation, solar radiation, direction vectors, operations with vectors in 3D space
Annotation: A technique for representing and calculating the orientation of the heliostatic mirror based on vector representations of the directions to the sun and the mirror related to a fixed observation point is presented. Vector representation of directions to the sun and the heliostatic mirror allows us to obtain a description of the mirror orientation that is quite clear and simple in algorithmic implementation of calculations. Operations with vectors are significantly simplified when using a projection in Cartesian coordinates. In addition to expressions for vector transformations of directions, a summary of formulae is given for calculating the position of the sun in a local coordinate system depending on geographic coordinates, date and time. The obtained relationships can be implemented in an algo- rithm for controlling the heliostatic mirror mechanism according to a given time schedule using two independent drives: azimuth and elevation. The developed method for calculating the orientation of the heliostatic mirror based on vector representations can be used in practical problems of monitoring the characteristics of solar radiation.
THE CONCEPT OF THE UNIVERSITY’S EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IN THE INTERESTS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Release: 2024-2 (47)
DOI: 10.21777/2500-2112-2024-2-103-115
Keywords: university, sustainable development goals, holistic system of training specialists
Annotation: Universities play a crucial role in training young professionals, ensuring their understanding of the goals of sustainable development, such as developing strategic partnerships, respecting and supporting human rights, efficient use of resources, and environmental protection. This list of qualities is formed through the educational process, which shapes the worldview of students. The article provides a brief review of initiatives and best practices in the field of training highly qualified specialists who can make a significant contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The key directions for the development of education, scientific and upbring- ing activities of universities in the interests of sustainable development are identified. The concept of a holistic system for training specialists capable of promoting sustainable development goals is proposed. The empirical basis of the study is the reports and materials of the international conference “The Role of Universities in the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals”, held in May 2024 at the Belgorod University of Coop- eration, Economics and Law.
